The darque brute entered at an easy two step, dial bobbing. He would save his energy for the match against alliances.

Esso slowed to a walk as he neared the other colt. {Ready to lose dark one?} His white body glimmered in the day sun and his one black leg shone clearly agianst the dry browness of the terra.

Go! yelled the brute, and he took off, speeding about a length ahead of the young colt. Dial pumped easily, muscles rippling and contracting and extending under his glossy colt. Blades pounded the sod, and he ran easily. Poisonum glanced back, looking at the other.

Esso was right behind expanding and contracting his leg muscles right on time.He fell back a slight bit and he pushed his shorter legs to try to stay even with the oldeer colt but he fell back a few horse lengths.

Poisonom ran easily, appendages gathering, stretching with ease. He slowed from his lightning speed to allow the colt to be around his hindquarters, and he was only just about cantering, for he had longer strides, longer legs, and better endurance than the yearling.

Poisonum rounded the first turn at an easy trot, appendages curving and straightening in easy rhythme. But suddenly he was off like a rocket, 6 lengths ahead of the colt, pumping his dial. But that speed was only momentary, and he slowed to allow the colt to catch up, for now.

They were nearing the finish. He matched the colt's strides easily, and slowed to the young brute's hindquarters, and then he speed up again, just to taunt the foal. He rushed ahead 1 length, still bored.

He speeded to a slow gallop as they finished the race, and then abruptly halted, looking over the other colt. Barely a bit of sweat had broken over his pelt, but the other seemed winded. Perhaps if they had been closer in age they could have been evenly matched.

Esso breathed heavily as he came across the finish line.He was fine and had long legs built for racing but he did not have the stamina the other had.
